We were delighted to host the inaugural Midlands Maths Challenge in February, designed to celebrate and challenge our greater-depth mathematicians. Pupils engaged in six exciting rounds combining traditional maths skills with creative, higher-order problem solving, including logic puzzles and reasoning activities.
The Griffins were an absolute credit to GST. Across all challenges, they demonstrated confidence, resilience, perseverance and a growth mindset when tackling increasingly complex problems. Teams worked collaboratively and supported one another exceptionally well throughout the competition.
The results were extremely close. Exhall took first place in the Year 3/4 competition, and Perry Wood were victorious in the Year 5/6 competition. Overall, Perry Wood were crowned the winning school.
Well done to all Griffins involved – we look forward to building this exciting new tradition in the years ahead.
