Weekly News Update

The children in Nursery have been learning about Easter. They have had lots of fun hiding and hunting for eggs in the garden and counting eggs. They have been learning about the Easter story and why it is a special time for Christians. Lots of the children have also been able to share their own experiences of celebrating Easter too. Celebrating Easter is one of our Proud Traditions at Perry Wood.

Goldfinches had a fabulous international day! We learned all about Japanese culture. We learned to count in Japanese, recognise the number symbols and solve number problems. Then, we had a lot of fun creating carp streamers, cherry blossom paintings, and collaged the Japanese flag!

Look at our amazing creations that Goldfinches have made to celebrate Easter 🐣

Happy Easter from all of Goldfinches

Year One rounded up our topic of Castles nicely with a whole day of Castle related learning. We have designed our own castle, order the knights from shortest to tallest, been in the stocks, had a delicious banquet, danced to Tudor music and played splat the rat! Thank you to all parents and carers for all the efforts with costumes/food, the children have had a wonderful day.

Jays have been high achievers by making amazing self-portraits out of clay! The children tried really hard to sculpt their facial features and enjoyed working with the clay.

Year 6 have been high achievers this week during Science.  They learnt about the characteristics of invertebrates

and applied this knowledge by classifying the creatures found in Forest School.  Children questioned each other using technical vocabulary in order to make informed decisions as to what each creature was called.

The whole school celebrated Japan on International Day.  The children took part in lots of activities learning about the Japanese culture, food and art.  Pupils and staff also dressed in Japanese clothes.

Year 6 have had an eggcellent day for our Easter Eggstravaganza and are hoping this continues to be one of Perry Wood’s proud traditions. The children have been using their creativity to create beautiful cards and build egg carriages, which were then sent down a zip line- it was great fun! They also took part in an egg and spoon relay where we managed 118 laps altogether. It was a fantastic day to end an amazing term. Have a wonderful Easter everyone!

Thank you to everyone who supported school by taking part in our Easter Raffle. Together we have raised £164.00

which will go into our PTFA funds. The winner of the main prize was Yasmin in Year 4.  Congratulations everyone – how eggciting!

Times Table Rock Stars! Well done to Jay, Manvi, Omar and Dyhan for being our top scorer in our recent TTRS battle against Park Lane.
